Our solar system consists of the Sun and the planets that orbit around it. There are eight planets in our solar system, and each one is unique. Some also count Pluto as one of the planets, while others do not because it doesn’t meet all the requirements.

But in our quiz, you can also get Pluto as a result, since many people still consider it a planet, and it plays a huge role in mythology.
A planet is a large, round object that orbits a star. Planets are made of gas, dust, and rocks. The planets in our solar system are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
Each planet has different characteristics and properties. Find out more below:
Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. It’s a small planet, and it’s very hot because it’s so close to the Sun. Mercury has no atmosphere, so there is no weather on the planet.
A peculiar thing about Mercury is that it rotates on its axis very slowly, taking 58.6 Earth days to complete one rotation.

Venus is the second closest planet to the Sun. It’s very similar to Earth in that it has an atmosphere and weather. However, the temperatures on Venus are much higher than they are on Earth, and it would be difficult for humans to live there.
It also rains on Venus, but the rain is a corrosive sulfuric acid. So, rainy days are even worse on Venus, huh?
Earth is the third planet from the Sun. It’s the only planet in our solar system that has life on it. Earth is also the only planet that we know of that has water in its atmosphere.
What sets Earth apart from the other planets is that it has a magnetic field. This magnetic field protects Earth from the Sun’s radiation and charged particles.

Earth also has seasons because its axis is tilted. The tilt of Earth’s axis means that different parts of the planet are pointed towards the Sun at different times. But you know Earth already, don’t you? Let’s continue with …
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun. It’s very similar to Earth but has no water on its surface and no life. It was once thought that there was water on Mars, but we now know that’s not the case. It’s possible that there was once water on Mars, but it has since evaporated.
Many people speculate that there may be life on Mars, but it has yet to be discovered. So, there are probably no aliens on Mars.
Mars is also home to the largest mountain in our solar system, Olympus Mons. This mountain is 27 kilometers high and covers an area the size of Arizona.

Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun. It’s the largest planet in our solar system, and it has a very thick atmosphere. Jupiter doesn’t have a solid surface like Earth does; rather, it’s made up of gas.
One of the most interesting things about Jupiter is the storm that is currently raging on its surface. The storm is called the Great Red Spot, and it’s been around for hundreds of years. You can actually see it!
Jupiter is also known for its many moons. It has 67 confirmed moons and many more that haven’t been confirmed yet.
Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun. It’s very different from Earth because it doesn’t have a solid surface. Saturn is made up of gas, like Jupiter, and has a very thick atmosphere.
Saturn is also known for its rings. The rings are made up of small pieces of ice and rock, and they orbit around Saturn.

Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun. Like Jupiter and Saturn, it isn’t solid but made up of gas. Uranus also has a very thick atmosphere.
One of the most interesting things about Uranus is that it’s tilted on its side. This means that one half of the planet is always facing the Sun and the other half is always in darkness.
Uranus also has a lot of moons. It has 27 confirmed moons and many more that haven’t been confirmed yet.
Neptune is the eighth and final planet from the Sun. It is another gas giant. Neptune also has a thick atmosphere.
One of the most interesting things about Neptune is that it has a storm called the Great Dark Spot. The storm is similar to the Great Red Spot on Jupiter, but it’s not as big.
Neptune also has 14 moons.
Pluto was once considered to be a planet, but it is now considered to be a dwarf planet. It is the farthest planet from the Sun and the smallest planet in our solar system.
👉 Season quiz: What season am I? | Find out now!
A peculiar thing about Pluto is that it has a very cold atmosphere. The temperature on Pluto’s surface is about -230 degrees Celsius!
Pluto also has 5 moons and a heart-shaped feature on its surface. How romantic!
Stars are large balls of plasma that emit light. The light that they emit can be seen from Earth and is what we see in the night sky.
Stars come in different colors, depending on their temperature. The hottest stars are blue, while the coolest stars are red.
Stars also vary in size. The largest star is called R136a1 and is about 265 times the size of the Sun. The smallest star is called EBLM J0555-57Ab and is only about 3% the size of the Sun.
But why are we talking about stars right now? Well, the Sun is also a star, and it’s the star that we orbit around. And since it’s part of our solar system, we’ve included it as a result in our quiz, even though it’s not technically a planet.
