What Is the Kinsey Scale Test?

The Kinsey scale was created in 1948 by Alfred Kinsey to capture something the categories of his era couldn’t: that human sexuality is a spectrum, not a binary. Where most people had been forced to pick “straight” or “gay,” Kinsey suggested a 0-to-6 scale (with an additional X for asexual) that reflected the actual range — from exclusively heterosexual through several mixed positions to exclusively homosexual, with most people honestly somewhere in the middle.

This is a respectful, modern version of the test. Thirteen plain-language questions about your real attraction patterns — physical, emotional, fantasy-life, history — without judgment about any answer. The result places you on the original 0-6 Kinsey scale (plus X if applicable). It’s a personal data point. Use it however helps.

What This Quiz Reveals

A single Kinsey number from 0 to 6, or X. Plus a clear, gentle interpretation that won’t lecture you about labels or push you toward any particular identity. Whatever you score is fine. Whatever you do with it is fine.
